0utcomes against the interests of the Sudanese people
By Omer Ahmed ELhaj
Six envoys representing ,United States ,Britain, France, Germany, and EU arrived in the country on a several day official visit, during which they will meet the President of TSC, 1st Lt. Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan and his deputy 1st Lt. Gen. Mohmed Hamdan Daglo as well as the Minister oF Foreign Affairs, and political parties engaging on the ongoing dialogue, in the country.
Foreign Minister, Ambassador Ali Al –Sadiq, told SUNA that the visit came to push forward the political process and narrow difference in view points between the political parties and to urge them to make the required concessions to achieve consensus.
At the end of April, the same envoys visited Sudan, to show support for the people of Sudan and civilian transition towards democracy. They called for immediate progress towards a civilian transitional government. agreed through Sudanese -Led political process being facilitated by the United Nations Integrated Transition Assistance Mission to Sudan (UNITAMS), the African Union (AU), and the inter -Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
The timing of the current visit of the international envoys coincided with new political developments on the political Sudanese scene, represented by the Framework Agreement signed 0n December 5th , 2022 between the military component and Forces of Freedom and Change – Central Council (FCC-CC)) and some of the stakeholders. Another political development is the Cairo Declaration and the outcomes hosted by Egypt.
Cairo Workshop issued a Final Communiqué on 7th February which is called – the ruling Sudanese national document with some amendments in the original copy of the Constitutional Document signed between the military component and the (FFC) In 17 August 2019 – suspended later by the President of (TSC ) 1st Lt. Gen. Abed Al-Fattah Al -Burhan on 25 October,2021
Accordingly, the international community particularly the World Bank suspended the aids to Sudan from that time till now, subjecting the continuation of the aids by restoring the transition and democracy through a civilian government headed by a civilian leadership.
The international envoys assured that they support the Framework Agreement; so there is a question about the fate of outcomes of the Cairo Workshop, which acquired a great consensus of the political forces and the parties that signed it.
There are now minor differences between the Framework Agreement and Cairo Document. which can simply be merge into a single Sudanese Document that leads to a solution to the political crisis in the country. That can be done only if all political powers disregard their narrow partisan differences for the sake of making the transitional period a success.
The current visit of the 6 international envoys did not add anything new, but increased the complexity of the political when it decided to deal with an agreement signed by a minority of political forces, and ignored an agreement signed by majority political forces which is Cairo Agreement, because the international envoys do not know the Sudanese people and the mentality of their political thinking ,that is why they deal wrong with the issue of Sudan as a whole. .
