Sesame Sieve Inaugurated in New Halfa Locality
The Director-General of the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources, Dr. Khader Ramadan, representative of the governor of Kassala state, accompanied by the Ambassador of Italy to Sudan, Michele Tommasi, witnessed the inaugurating of the sesame sieve that is a grant presented by the Italian government to the mills of the Union of Cooperative Societies in New Halfa Locality.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the acting Minister of Finance and Manpower, Musa Oshik, the Director General of International Relations at the Ministry of Industry, Ms. Lamia Al-Nour, the Country Director of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Mohamed Sayed Ahmed along with the Director of the Italian Agency for Development Aid in addition to a number of other officials.
The representative of the governor of Kassala State said that this day represents a historic day in the relations between Sudan and Italy, praising the efforts being exerted by UNIDO for the great services it provides to the state in various fields.
Dr. Khader Ramadan called on the Italian government to conclude memorandums of understanding with Sudan to establish and rehabilitate development projects that serve the two countries economically, represented in the establishment of grain mills and an edible oil factory with international specifications to compete with global markets in addition to setting up a factory for drying onions and introducing alternative energy in irrigated and rain-fed projects to achieve a boom in the field of processing industries.
He stressed the keenness of the state government and its support for cooperation between the two countries to achieve development.
For his part, the Italian ambassador saluted the government of Sudan, represented by the state government, for their continuous cooperation and said that the real start of development projects will start from Kassala state.
He explained that the Italian embassy will work hard to achieve the slogan (Sudan is the food basket of the world), saying Italy will maintain development and service projects in the New Halfa area.
Chairman of the Federation of Cooperative Societies in New Halfa, Ahmed Abdel-Latif Farajallah, reviewed support provided by the Italian government and a number of companies for the production process and providing heavy machinery and means of transporting agricultural production, indicating their keenness to restore the area to its former state by supporting the production process which is represented in production factories through Italian aid.
