Lavrov to visit Sudan next Wednesday

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will begin next Wednesday an official two- day’s visit to the country.

The Acting Foreign Minister, Ambassador Ali Al-Sadig said in press statement that the visit comes as part of a tour that will also take him to, Iraq, Mauritania and Mali.

The Russian Foreign Minister will hold talks with his counterpart, the Acting Foreign Minister, Ambassador Ali Al-Sadiq, on bilateral, regional and international issues of common concern, as well as ways to increase the volume of trade exchange and Russian investments, especially in the field of infrastructure.

Ambassador Ali Al-Sadiq, told SUNA that Sudan welcomes the visit of the Russian Foreign Minister and looks forward to promoting bilateral relations and implementing bilateral cooperation programs in accordance with the outputs of the joint ministerial committee that was held in Moscow in 2022.

He stressed that Sudan is looking forward to stopping the Russian-Ukrainian war and resolving it through political and diplomatic mechanisms, referring to its negative impacts on African economies, food security and the high cost of goods and services in all African countries.

SUNA indicates that the political consultation committee between Sudan and Russia convened in Moscow in August 2022. The Joint Ministerial Committee also convened in Moscow from 17-19 August 2022.
