Sudan take part in 42nd Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs in Doha
The Acting Minister of Social Development, Ahmed Adam Bakhit, participated in the 42nd session of the Council of Arab Ministers for Social Development, hosted by Qatar on 25-26 January 2023, under the auspices of Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani.
HE Qatar’s Minister of Social Development and Family, Mariam Al-Misnad, assumed yesterday the presidency of the 42nd meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which presided over the past 41st session.
The Ambassador of Sudan to the State of Qatar, HE Ahmed Abdel-Rahman Mohammed Hassan Siwar Al-Dahab, members of the mission took part in the two-day meeting, alongside with Deputy chairman of the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Social Development, Nawal Mohammed Al-Faki.
The Minister of Social Development Thursday made the Sudan’s statement before the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs at the ministerial level, thanking and appreciating Qatar generous hospitality and good organization of the Council’s meetings.
He also expressed his congratulations to the State of Qatar for the outstanding success in hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, as it has proven its ability to compete with major countries and even outperform them in hosting international events and producing them in an impressive and distinctive manner.
The Minister spoke about the role of the state in extending social protection through the pioneering experiences of social security funds and the mechanisms concerned with the different social protection categories.
He indicated importance of focusing on the issues of the displaced and refugees through more support, coordination and building partnerships, noting the need for more cooperation between Arab countries to achieve common goals in eradicating poverty and supporting groups with special needs.
The Minister indicated states’ role in realizing the social protection through the pioneering experiences of social security funds and the mechanisms concerned with the different social protection categories, stressing the importance of focusing on the issues of the displaced and refugees, through more support, coordination and building partnerships. His Excellency also looked forward to more cooperation between Arab countries to achieve common goals in eradicating poverty and supporting groups with special needs.
He also noted the need to involve international and regional organizations concerned with these issues in implementing the objectives of the Arab countries in supporting the vulnerable segments .
It is worth noting that Sudan admitted as a member of executive office of Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, while the deputy head of the Executive Office was elected, as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia presided over the office.
