Endorsement of national Cancer prevention and control strategy 2023_2030 in Sudan

The Federal Ministry of Health approved the National Cancer Control Strategy 2023-2030 supported by the World Health Organization and in the presence of the relevant authorities.
The Acting Minister of Health , Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, said in the opening session of the Endorsement of national Cancer prevention and control strategy 2023_2030 at the Corintha Hotel, that the strategy for seven years with a joint effort and support of the World Health Organization Sudan Office and the regional office .The sessions characterized by a wide discussions with partners and specialists in the field of cancer and university professors.
Haitham said that the strategy included several axes, the most important of which is control, the existence of cancer registries, and ensuring the availability of arrangements for the necessary strategies to treat the disease, pointing to the discussion of the basic agenda, on top of which is the expansion of services represented in the provision of essential medicines according to a specific protocol included in the national strategy while placing it among the priorities of the government, as well as emphasizing their provision in treatment centers during 2023, saying that Sudan recently joined by establishing additional radiotherapy centers with 7 regional centers, revealing that only 3 centers are currently available.
Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) office in Sudan, Dr. Nima Abed, praised the efforts made until the strategy saw the light, describing the hard work done in developing a long-term strategy .
