Sudan Briefs Diplomatic Missions on Drone Attacks Launched from Ethiopia

Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in coordination with the relevant security agencies, briefed diplomatic missions accredited to Sudan today on drone attacks launched from Ethiopian territory targeting Sudan’s security, stability, territorial integrity, and the lives of its citizens.
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Muawiya Osman, stated that these attacks, which have escalated in recent months, have targeted the country’s infrastructure and vital facilities, particularly power plants, water stations, schools, hospitals, and fuel stations, resulting in the deaths and injuries of hundreds.
The Undersecretary described these attacks as an act of aggression against Sudan, indicating that they are part of a proxy war waged by Ethiopia on behalf of regional actors and countries.
The United Arab Emirates, at the forefront of this aggression, is being used as a tool by the rebel militia.
He pointed out that the Assosa base inside Ethiopian territory has become a hub for supplying the rebel militia with weapons and equipment, and for facilitating the passage of foreign fighters and mercenaries participating in the war against Sudan. He emphasized that the most dangerous aspect is the use of Ethiopian bases and territory as launching points for drone attacks on the country.
The Undersecretary explained that the briefing aimed to remind the international community, represented by the diplomatic missions accredited to Sudan, of its responsibilities in confronting this brutal aggression emanating from Ethiopia.
He added that the government is making efforts to de-escalate tensions and address the existing imbalances in Sudanese-Ethiopian relations through various diplomatic channels, while Sudan retains its full right to respond to any aggression, as guaranteed by international law to countries subjected to attack.
The Undersecretary noted that the ambassadors and diplomats participating in the briefing affirmed their countries’ support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and their solidarity with the Sudanese people in their ordeal until the war ends and life returns to normal in the country.
