National Nutrition Programme Holds Training of Trainers on Nutrition Supply Chain Management

The National Nutrition Programme at Sudan’s Federal Ministry of Health, in collaboration with UNICEF, has organized a Training of Trainers (ToT) course on nutrition supply chain management as part of efforts to strengthen and develop nutrition supplies at both national and state levels.
The training, held at the ministry’s main conference hall, will continue through Tuesday, September 15.
Director of the National Nutrition Programme, Salwa Sorketi, stressed the importance of training and capacity building in nutrition supply management to improve and enhance the quality of supply systems.
She described the course as the starting point for broader work in the field of nutrition supply management, commending the roles of UNICEF, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), while highlighting ongoing coordination with the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization.
“We are all committed to nutrition and working together to ensure it reaches safety,” Sorketi said.
Rania Daoud, Coordinator of the Emergency Nutrition Unit, said supply management involves more than receiving and distributing supplies. It begins with forecasting and planning and extends to distribution and storage, requiring systematic training to ensure the success of the entire process.
She noted that the training brings together representatives from the Federal Ministry of Health, state health authorities and partner organizations, which have provided technical and financial support to advance nutrition supply management.
Meanwhile, UNICEF representative Dr. Khalid Al-Tahir stressed that effective supply chain management requires highly qualified personnel who play a critical role in ensuring the continuity and quality of health services.
He emphasized the importance of benefiting from the experiences of different states, identifying solutions to challenges and exchanging expertise. He also reaffirmed UNICEF’s commitment to working alongside the ministry at both federal and state levels, as well as other partners, to ensure a continuous and uninterrupted supply chain and the delivery of essential nutrition supplies to children and mothers in need.
