Trade and Industry Undersecretary Praises Standards Authority’s Role in Consumer Protection

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry,Dr. Awad Salam, commended the vital role played by the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization (SSMO) in protecting consumers and supporting the national economy through rigorous inspection and quality control.
His remarks came during an official visit to the SSMO branch in Qari and the Container Terminal, where he led a high-level delegation that included the Director of the Duty-Free Markets Company, Montaser Khalid, Director of the National Council for Free Zones and Markets, along with accompanying officials.
The delegation was received by Eng. Khalid Ibrahim, Director of the Qari and Container Terminal Branch. During the meeting, the branch presented a comprehensive briefing on the organization’s regulatory role within the free zones, measures to facilitate operational procedures, mechanisms for direct coordination with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, and ways to strengthen partnerships with relevant stakeholders in the free zone.
The discussions emphasized enhancing the smooth flow of trade and investment while ensuring full compliance with quality standards and consumer protection requirements.
