Health Insurance Fund Commends Hedendowa Leader’s Role in Expanding Healthcare Services in Eastern Sudan

Khartoum — The Director-General of the National Health Insurance Fund, Dr. Farouk Nour El-Daim, praised the significant role played by Mohamed El-Amin Turk, Nazir General of the Hedendowa tribes, in supporting the health sector and strengthening health insurance services in eastern Sudan.

During a meeting with Nazir Turk and his accompanying delegation at the Fund’s headquarters, Dr. Farouk said Turk’s efforts had contributed significantly to the expansion and wider coverage of health insurance services in Kassala State.

He noted that Turk’s support had also extended to Red Sea State through contributions to the provision of healthcare services across various localities, as well as support for establishing model health centers aimed at bringing treatment closer to citizens and reducing the need to travel for medical care.

Dr. Farouk said field visits to the Hadaliya area had helped identify its healthcare needs, noting that health services were being provided as a first phase, with plans to establish a hospital in the future to serve the area and surrounding communities.
For his part, Nazir Mohamed El-Amin Turk expressed his appreciation for the National Health Insurance Fund and commended its efforts to provide healthcare and treatment services across Sudan, particularly in the eastern states.

He stressed the importance of continuing cooperation and strengthening the partnership to improve healthcare services, noting that eastern Sudan’s states are counting on the Fund to expand healthcare coverage, particularly given the region’s vast geographical area and the distance between localities.

Yaqub Mahmoud Ahmed, Director of Al-Hayat Hospital, also presented the hospital’s experience in providing additional medical services contracted with the National Health Insurance Fund. He praised the Fund’s role in supporting treatment services and expanding citizens’ access to healthcare.

He said the partnership between the Fund and the private sector represented a successful model of integration within the health sector, contributing to the expansion, quality and sustainability of medical services.

Meanwhile, Makram Bashir, a pharmaceutical company manager, expressed the company’s interest in strengthening cooperation and partnership with the National Health Insurance Fund. He stressed the importance of coordinated efforts between the public and private sectors to support the healthcare system and ensure the availability of medicines and health services.
