Former Warring Groups Unite Against Ethiopian Prime Minister’s Government

The Ethiopian Fano group announced its alliance with forces from the Tigray region and several other armed groups opposed to the government, according to the Swiss newspaper Le Temps.

Fano leader Zemene Kassi stated that these new alliances aim to unify armed groups opposed to the federal government, an unprecedented move that brings together formerly warring factions in an effort to overthrow Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

This alliance is seen as a significant development in the Ethiopian political and military landscape, reflecting a shift from internal conflict to joint coordination against the central government, potentially opening the door to a new phase of confrontations.
