Sudan’s Federal Health Undersecretary Pledges Support for Blue Nile Health Services, Congratulates Liberation of Kurmuk

Sudan’s Federal Ministry of Health Undersecretary, Dr. Ali Babiker Sayed Ahmed, met today in Khartoum with the Minister of Health of the Blue Nile Region, Dr. Jamal Al-Nasser, to discuss the region’s pressing health needs and the Federal Ministry’s continued support for rebuilding essential health services.
At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Ali congratulated the people of the Blue Nile Region on the liberation of Kurmuk, commending the Sudanese Armed Forces and allied forces for their efforts.
The Undersecretary reaffirmed the Federal Ministry’s commitment to rehabilitating Kurmuk Hospital after the severe damage it sustained during the conflict. He stressed that the Ministry would provide both technical and logistical assistance to the regional health authorities, while taking into account the unique needs of the Blue Nile Region. He also instructed relevant departments to expedite the delivery of urgent medical requirements, including support for the region’s kidney dialysis center.
Dr. Al-Nasser briefed the meeting on the current health situation, highlighting the significant challenges facing hospitals and primary healthcare facilities. He noted that the Chinese Hospital urgently requires medical equipment and supplies, while Kurmuk Hospital and several health centers suffered extensive damage, including the loss of solar power systems during the conflict.
The Regional Health Minister also reviewed the epidemiological situation in the region, emphasizing the need for immediate health interventions in displacement camps and calling for continued federal support to strengthen disease surveillance and sustain vector control campaigns.
Concluding the meeting, Dr. Al-Nasser expressed his appreciation for the outcomes of the discussions and thanked the Federal Ministry of Health for its ongoing commitment to supporting and restoring healthcare services across the Blue Nile Region.
