Sudanese Red Crescent Society Distributes Food Baskets to Displaced Families in the Red Sea and White Nile States

With support from the Turkish Red Crescent, the Sudanese Red Crescent Society distributed food baskets to internally displaced persons (IDPs) residing in displacement centers in Port Sudan.

A total of 578 food baskets were delivered as part of a humanitarian assistance program aimed at supporting conflict-affected families.
The distribution covered several displacement centers, including Youth House Center, Umm Al-Mu’minin Center, Shamaa Center, Basic Ports Center, and Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Center.

The operation was carried out by 10 volunteers from the Sudanese Red Crescent Society’s Red Sea State Branch, whose dedicated efforts ensured that the food assistance reached the targeted beneficiaries efficiently.

Meanwhile, in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP), the Sudanese Red Crescent Society’s White Nile State Branch distributed food assistance to approximately 3,000 internally displaced people residing in Camps 115 and 116 in Tendelti.

The intervention was implemented under the branch’s General Food Assistance Program, which aims to strengthen food security and support families affected by displacement.
Ms. Suad Adam, Field Officer of the General Food Assistance Section, explained that the distribution targeted approximately 426 households, equivalent to around 3,000 displaced persons in Camps 115 and 116.

She emphasized that the intervention was made possible through the support of the World Food Programme and reflects the strategic partnership between WFP and the Sudanese Red Crescent Society. She added that similar humanitarian assistance activities will continue in the coming period to provide further support to vulnerable communities.
