Sudanese authorities raid human trafficking network, free 74 hostages
The General Administration for Combating Smuggling in Khartoum State, affiliated with the Customs Forces, in direct cooperation and coordination with the Military Police Command, carried out a successful security operation today (Friday) that resulted in raiding a human trafficking network, freeing 74 foreign hostages, arresting 12 suspects, and seizing large quantities of weapons, ammunition, equipment, and vehicles.
The Director of the General Administration for Combating Smuggling in Khartoum State, Brigadier General Abbas Abdel Qader Dinar, revealed that the operation was carried out in direct coordination with the Commander of the Military Police, Major General Jamal Mohamed Ahmed. It resulted in the seizure of three DShK machine guns, two Goryunov machine guns, 16 Kalashnikov rifles and sniper rifles, five pistols, as well as 4,160 rounds of DShK ammunition, 178 rounds of 23mm artillery shells, and six RPG rounds.
He added that the force also seized four Starlink satellite phones, along with two pickup trucks and a Tundra pickup truck. He noted that the operation comes within the framework of ongoing security efforts to combat organized crime, dry up the sources of human trafficking, and confront criminal activities that exploit the security and humanitarian situation for illicit gain.
The Director General of Customs Forces, Lieutenant General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, commended the significant efforts exerted by the Anti-Smuggling Forces and the participating force in the operation. He praised the coordination and joint cooperation with the Military Police Command and the operation’s important results, particularly in freeing the hostages and pursuing human trafficking networks.
The Assistant Director General for Anti-Smuggling, Major General Dr. Dafallah Mohamed Dafallah, also commended the achievement of the force that carried out the operation. He emphasized the importance of continued coordination among security agencies and strengthening joint efforts to combat organized crime and pursue those involved in human trafficking and smuggling, thereby enhancing security and stability and protecting the lives and dignity of victims.
According to initial data, this operation underscores the scale of the efforts exerted by the relevant agencies in confronting organized criminal networks and dealing firmly with human trafficking and smuggling activities, in addition to strengthening intelligence work and operational coordination among the relevant agencies.
