Sudan Signs Agreement Establishing the Global Organization for Cooperation in Artificial Intelligence as a Founding Member

The Republic of Sudan signed the agreement establishing the Global Organization for Cooperation in Artificial Intelligence today (Friday), becoming one of the founding members of this international organization, which was officially launched on July 17.

Sudan was represented at the signing ceremony, held at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing, by the Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to the People’s Republic of China, Omar Issa Ahmed, who signed the founding document on behalf of the Sudanese government.

The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Liu Bin, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of China. Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Iran, and Togo also joined the list of founding members during this round, bringing the total number of founding members of the organization to 35.

In his remarks during the signing ceremony, Ambassador Omar Issa Ahmed expressed Sudan’s appreciation to the People’s Republic of China for its initiative in establishing the first international organization specializing in promoting global cooperation in artificial intelligence. He affirmed Sudan’s readiness to work with China and other member states to enhance cooperation, exchange expertise and knowledge, benefit from training and capacity-building programs, and support scientific research and technological development.

According to Osama Mukhtar, the Sudanese Radio correspondent in Beijing, Issa explained that Sudan looks forward to the organization contributing to the establishment of fair and sustainable partnerships and supporting development efforts, particularly among developing countries.
