PM Receives High-Level Ugandan Delegation Visiting the Country

His Excellency Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris received today in Khartoum a high-level Ugandan delegation led by Ambassador and Director of the External Intelligence Service and Special Envoy of the Ugandan President for Peace in Sudan, Mr. Joseph Akot. Also present were the Director General of the General Intelligence Service, Lieutenant General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal, the Prime Minister’s Advisor, Nizar Abdullah Mohammed, the Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to Sudan, Dr. Rashid Yahya.

During the meeting, His Excellency the Prime Minister affirmed Sudan’s commitment to developing relations with Uganda in a way that serves the interests of both countries.

His Excellency reviewed the developments in the country in light of the continued victories of the Armed Forces and their supporting forces, pointing to the extent of the destruction inflicted by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on infrastructure, institutions, and civilian sites, and the ongoing violations they commit against unarmed civilians. The meeting addressed the Sudanese government’s peace initiative, which has garnered local, regional, and international support.

For his part, the head of the Ugandan delegation, Ambassador Joseph Akot, reiterated his country’s rejection of any parallel government and its recognition of the current government as the sole legitimate authority. He also affirmed their full support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Sudan.
