New Meeting Between Burhan and Afwerki in the Eritrean Capital

Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, met with Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki in Asmara, the capital, to discuss the progress of bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to enhance cooperation between Khartoum and Asmara in various vital sectors.

Affirmation of Commitment to Strengthening Bilateral Relations

In an official statement, the Sovereignty Council explained that Burhan’s visit to Asmara is a firm affirmation of Sudan’s keenness to strengthen and solidify its relations with neighboring Eritrea and to expand the frameworks of mutual coordination in a way that serves the higher and common interests of the two peoples.

Joint Coordination on Issues and Establishing Security

The high-level official talks reflect the nature and depth of the close joint coordination between the leaderships of the two countries on various regional and international issues of mutual interest, in addition to the serious endeavor to establish the foundations of security, peace, and comprehensive stability in the Horn of Africa and the region.
