Jibril Ibrahim: Ending the War in Sudan Requires Halting External Support for the RSF Militia
Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim Mohamed, affirmed that ending the war in Sudan requires “halting external support for the Rapid Support Forces militia,” strengthening the humanitarian response, and supporting a national political process leading to lasting peace.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Jibril stated that he met at the European Parliament headquarters in Brussels, accompanied by Ambassador Abdelbagi Kabir, with Ms. Hilde Wautsmans, Head of the Africa Delegation at the European Parliament, and Ms. Victoria Garcia Pérez, the European Parliament’s rapporteur on Sudan.
He added that during the meeting, he briefed them on the political, security, and humanitarian developments in Sudan, and the impact of the war on civilians and state institutions. He emphasized the importance of the European Union’s role in curbing external interference and supporting a political solution, while reiterating the government’s commitment to the Jeddah Declaration and calling for an inclusive Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue without exclusion.
The minister called on the European Union to “condemn the crimes of the Rapid Support Forces militia, designate it a terrorist organization, and not equate it with the Sudanese Armed Forces,” warning against its continued threats to civilians and reiterating Sudan’s categorical rejection of “any attempts to undermine its territorial integrity or sovereignty
