Urgent appeal to the Salamat and Bani Halba tribes: Salah Rasas, member of the Sovereign Council

I, Salah al-Din Adam Tour (Salah Rasas), member of the Sovereign Council, urgently appeal to all members of the Bani Halba and Salamat tribes to immediately cease the ongoing fighting between them. This conflict is being fueled by militias who are inciting tribalism and racism, resulting in casualties among women and children on both sides. These are devastating losses, the price of which is paid by all those affected in both tribes and by the entire Sudanese people, as the victims are Sudanese first and foremost.

I urge the elders of both tribes to heed the call of wisdom and reason and to quickly convene to resolve this great destruction and protect the lives of innocent people on both sides. We are ready to facilitate dialogue and provide immediate assistance to resolve the problem.
