Sudan’s Minister of Justice Meets His Egyptian Counterpart in Cairo
His Excellency Dr. Abdalla Mohamed Darf, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Sudan, met with his Egyptian counterpart, His Excellency Counselor Mahmoud Helmy El Sherif, Minister of Justice of the Arab Republic of Egypt, on the sidelines of the Executive Bureau meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice, currently being held in Cairo.
At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Abdalla Mohamed Darf extended his congratulations to Counselor Mahmoud Helmy El Sherif on his appointment as Minister of Justice, wishing him success in carrying out his responsibilities. He also emphasized the deep-rooted historical and fraternal ties that unite the two countries and their peoples.
The meeting was attended by members of the Sudanese delegation, including Ambassador Abdel Azim Mohamed Al-Sadiq Al-Karouri, Director of the Arab League Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Osman Mohamed Idris, Director of the Minister’s Office; and Basma Montasir Mohamed, Representative of Sudan’s Permanent Mission.
During the discussions, the two sides explored ways to strengthen the strategic partnership between the Ministries of Justice in both countries and reviewed prospects for enhanced cooperation in legal and judicial fields. The talks also focused on mechanisms for exchanging expertise, developing training and capacity-building programs for legal professionals and advisors, and enhancing bilateral coordination in combating organized crime in a manner that serves their mutual interests.
The meeting comes within the framework of strengthening joint Arab action and advancing the legal system across the region. It also coincides with the active participation of the Sudanese delegation in the 76th session of the Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice, in Sudan’s capacity as a member of the Council’s Troika.
Furthermore, it serves as a preparatory step toward upcoming regional engagements, particularly the Conference of States Parties to the Arab Convention against Corruption, scheduled to be held in Doha next September.
