Sudan Leads Delegation to the 114th International Labour Conference in Geneva
Sudan’s Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare,Moatasim Ahmed Salih, arrived in Geneva, Switzerland, leading the Sudanese delegation participating in the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference (ILC), organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO) from 1 to 12 June 2026. The conference brings together government representatives, employers, and workers from member states around the world.
Upon his arrival at Geneva International Airport, the Minister was received by H.E. Ambassador Hassan Hamid Hassan, Permanent Representative of the Republic of the Sudan to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva, along with members of the Permanent Mission.
Sudan’s participation in the conference reflects its commitment to strengthening cooperation with the International Labour Organization and enhancing its engagement in international forums concerned with employment, labour issues, social protection, and sustainable development. This participation is of particular significance as Sudan currently serves on the Governing Body of the International Labour Organization, representing East African countries.
The Minister is scheduled to deliver Sudan’s statement during the general discussion session, highlighting the government’s efforts in the fields of social protection, employment, skills development, vocational training, economic recovery, and reconstruction. He will also present Sudan’s perspective on key issues featured on the conference agenda, particularly artificial intelligence and the future of work, as well as the promotion of social justice.
In addition, the Minister will hold a series of bilateral meetings with ministers and heads of delegations participating in the conference, as well as a meeting with the Director-General of the International Labour Organization. These discussions will focus on strengthening cooperation, expanding technical assistance programmes, and enhancing capacity-building initiatives to support Sudan’s recovery and reconstruction efforts, labour market development, and social protection systems.
Sudan’s participation in this important international event underscores its commitment to the principles of the International Labour Organization and its determination to leverage international partnerships in support of the country’s priorities for the next phase, particularly in the areas of employment, social development, and sustainable peacebuilding.
