Sovereign Council Advisor for Organizations and Humanitarian Action Participates in “K2026” Conference in Italyà

Lieutenant General Al-Sadiq Ismail Mahmoud, Advisor to the Sovereign Council for Organizations and Humanitarian Action, discussed ways to enhance international support for Sudan and intensify humanitarian efforts to address the repercussions of the war during his participation in the “K2026” conference in Genoa, Italy.

In his address to the conference, which was attended by Italian and European officials and parliamentarians, as well as other conference guests, the advisor emphasized the importance of increasing humanitarian aid and keeping the Sudanese crisis a priority for the international community. He pointed to the scale of the humanitarian challenges facing citizens and internally displaced persons (IDPs) who were forced from their homes by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.

On the sidelines of the conference, Lieutenant General Al-Sadiq Ismail met with the Italian Deputy Foreign Minister, in the presence of the Sudanese Ambassador to Italy, where he reviewed the developments in the humanitarian situation and the urgent needs in the country.

For his part, the Italian Deputy Foreign Minister affirmed his country’s commitment to supporting Sudan, noting his firsthand observations of the situation of displaced persons during a previous visit to the country and the need for a greater humanitarian response. Participants from the European Parliament called for an end to the war in Sudan and for strengthened international efforts to address the humanitarian crisis.

They also demanded more effective measures against those who contribute to supporting the rebels and perpetuating the war.

In this context, the Director of the Italian Relief Agency announced the allocation of €150 million to support the health sector in the country and to rehabilitate hospitals and health facilities in Sudan. He emphasized the agency’s readiness to support development programs and the voluntary return of internally displaced persons and refugees.
