SAF Announce Recapture of Two Strategic Areas in Blue Nile State

The Sudanese Armed Forces announced on Monday that it had regained control of the strategic areas of Sarkam and Maqja in Blue Nile State, in the southeast of the country, after battles with the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N).

In a statement, the army said: “Continuing its victories on the Blue Nile front, the Sudanese Armed Forces and their supporting forces were able to clear the areas of Maqja and Sarkam after fierce battles against the rebel militia.”

It added: “The 4th Infantry Division of the army and its support forces fought a fierce battle that ended with our forces taking control of these areas, inflicting heavy losses on the militia in terms of lives and equipment.”

The statement indicated that the army forces are continuing combing operations and pursuing the enemy to secure the areas that have been cleared, and deploying in the field to ensure stability and extend security, and to prevent any attempts at infiltration or redeployment of the fleeing elements.
