Registrar General of Agricultural and Livestock Production Professions Meets WFP State Director and Coordinator in Gezira

Yasser Ibrahim, Director of the World Food Programme (WFP), and Ezzeldin Issa Mohamed Salih, WFP Coordinator, visited the temporary offices of the Registrar General of Agricultural and Livestock Production Professions in Gezira State.

The visit aimed to review the efforts of the Registrar General in registering and establishing Agricultural and Livestock Production Professional Associations across the Gezira Scheme and the Managil Extension. Discussions focused on strengthening specialized producer organizations in the Gezira and Managil sections and facilitating the provision of production inputs ahead of the Country Director’s planned visit on July 12.

The meeting also emphasized support for farmers through the provision of seeds, DAP fertilizer, and urea.
For his part, the Registrar General, Mawlana Abu Bakr Othman, expressed his appreciation to the World Food Programme for the visit and presented a detailed report on the associations established within the Gezira and Managil projects. He noted that 1,988 grassroots production associations have been formed, while the number of specialized organizations established so far has reached 63.

He further outlined the procedures and schedules for forming additional specialized and sector-specific organizations, commending the visit as an important step toward supporting producers in the Gezira and Managil schemes and motivating farmers to resume and expand agricultural production, particularly after most sections of the project had ceased production during the period of occupation of Al Jazirah State by the rebel militia.

The WFP representative praised the robust organizational system and the remarkable efforts made by the Registrar General’s team, highlighting their efficiency, speed, and accuracy in carrying out their work. He also stressed the importance of continued cooperation and coordination between the World Food Programme and the Registrar General’s Office.
