NSWF – Khartoum State – to open seven student housing complexes

As part of the implementation of the plan to reconstruct and rehabilitate student housing complexes belonging to the National Students Welfare Fund (NSWF) in Khartoum State, the Fund’s Inaugurations Committee continued its field work to assess the readiness of the second phase projects. These projects include the opening of seven fully renovated and reconstructed dormitories. The first phase provided housing for 9,533 male and female students. The projects are scheduled to be officially inaugurated by the end of next month by the Prime Minister of the Government of Hope, Professor Kamil Idris.

The tour was headed by Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed Hussein, Secretary of the NSWF in Khartoum State and Chairman of the Inaugurations Committee, accompanied by Dr. Mirghani Al-Faqih, representative of the Supreme Council for Strategy and Information, and members of the committee. Also present was guest of honor Dr. Hassan Mohamed Adam, Secretary of the Fund in South Kordofan State. The inspection tour included the dormitories targeted in the second phase of reconstruction:

Al-Fatih Hamza Dormitory in the Kamil Al-Baqir Complex in Al-Fatihah City.

Suad Tambul Dormitory in the Martyrs’ Complex.

Nafisa Omar Jankour Dormitory in the Bashair Al-Salam Complex.

Abu Dejana Dormitory in the Hussein Hassan Hussein Complex (Central).

Martyr Dr. Atif Al-Tijani Dormitory and Martyr Abdul Salam Suleiman Dormitory in the Martyr Al-Zubair Muhammad Salih Complex in Bahri City.

At the end of the tour, the delegation met with the Director of Al-Zaeem Al-Azhari University, Professor Nasr Al-Din Muhammad Ahmad, who praised the Fund’s role in stabilizing the educational process and expressed his gratitude to the Fund’s Secretary-General, the Fund in the state, and the Khartoum State Government.

The tour aimed to assess the final stages of the rehabilitation and reconstruction work and review the readiness of the accompanying service facilities, including cafeterias, restaurants, mosques and prayer rooms, and administrative and service buildings, to ensure a comprehensive and stable residential environment for students.

These projects are an extension of the Leap Program for the reconstruction of student housing complexes in Khartoum State. The first phase of the program saw the opening of three dormitories after their renovation. These upcoming openings represent the second phase of the project, which aims to restore the capacity of the housing complexes and improve the living environment for students, in line with the Fund’s vision and mission to support students and provide them with suitable accommodation.

For his part, Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed Hussein, the Fund’s Secretary in Khartoum State, expressed his gratitude to the Secretary-General, the Acting Secretary-General, and the Khartoum State Reconstruction Committee for their efforts in successfully completing the maintenance work to an excellent standard. He also thanked the Governor of Khartoum State, Mr. Ahmed Osman Hamza, and his government for their support of the Fund. He commended the efforts of the staff at the Khartoum State Secretariat, the directors of the dormitories, and all state employees.

Final arrangements are underway for the official ceremony to inaugurate the six dormitories, which will be attended by the Prime Minister, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Secretary-General of NSWF, and the Governor of Khartoum State.
