Ministry of Agriculture and Turkey’s Konya University Affirm Their Desire to Strengthen Joint Cooperation

Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, Dr. Fatima Rahma, affirmed her ministry’s desire to strengthen scientific cooperation with Turkey’s Konya University.
This morning (Monday) in Khartoum, the Acting Undersecretary met with the Vice Rector of Konya University to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation within the framework of bilateral collaboration, as well as prospects for agricultural cooperation and means of developing it to support the agricultural sector in Sudan.
Dr. Fatima praised Turkey’s role in supporting the country, emphasizing the importance of continued coordination and cooperation to address the effects of the war on the agricultural sector. She expressed her gratitude to the Vice Rector of Konya University and the Turkish government for their support of the agriculture and irrigation sectors in Sudan.
The two sides discussed opportunities for developing agricultural investments and partnerships, implementing specialized training programs, and rehabilitating agricultural laboratories. They also discussed strengthening cooperation in agricultural engineering, establishing centers for manufacturing and maintaining agricultural machinery, developing local seed and fertilizer production, and creating joint training centers.
Both parties agreed to prepare a comprehensive memorandum of understanding covering various areas of agricultural cooperation, and to explore the possibility of implementing investment projects and strategic partnerships that serve agricultural development goals and enhance technical and technological capabilities.
