Minister of Human Resources: Expanding Cash Support and Livelihood Projects to Combat Child Labour

The Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare, Moatasim Ahmed Salih, attended the ministry’s celebration of the World Day Against Child Labour, which was launched from the ministry’s headquarters in Khartoum.

He commended the efforts of the ministry’s staff and their commitment to observing international days dedicated to social welfare issues.
The minister stressed the importance of raising community awareness and strengthening the role of the family, emphasizing that child labour is a humanitarian crime that exposes children to social and psychological risks and negatively affects their health and education.

He added that the “Government of Hope” is committed to all international conventions aimed at preventing child labour. He noted that the government is implementing initiatives and social projects to address and reduce the phenomenon of child labour.

The minister further stated that the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Welfare has launched several projects that have contributed to supporting vulnerable families, thereby helping to reduce the prevalence of child labour. He affirmed that efforts to expand cash assistance programs will continue, alongside providing income-generating projects for families, improving healthcare services, and ensuring that Zakat resources reach eligible beneficiaries.

He concluded that these measures will help families avoid relying on child labour and will contribute significantly to increasing the rate of child labour eradication.
