Khartoum’s Acting Minister of Social Development Launches African Child Day Celebration

Acting Khartoum State Minister of Social Development Sadiq Hassan Farini inaugurated the African Child Day celebration in Jabal Awliya locality, attended by government officials and partner organizations.
Farini reaffirmed the state’s commitment to child protection, noting that the war has severely impacted the health and education sectors.

He stated that 71% of children face difficulties accessing healthcare services, while more than 6,400 schools have been destroyed or forced to suspend operations. He described the event as a platform to strengthen advocacy and collective protection for children.

The Executive Director of Jabal Awliya highlighted the locality’s efforts to resume education and host national examination marking centers.

Meanwhile, the Secretary-General of the National Council for Child Welfare stressed that investing in children is an investment in Sudan’s future. The Khartoum State Child Welfare Council also called for ending child labour, child marriage, drug abuse, and other harmful practices affecting children.

The celebration concluded with artistic performances and interactive theatre presented by students of Martyr Omar Mohammed Musa School, which were warmly received by participants.
