Khartoum Social Development Emergency Room Reviews Eid Humanitarian Programs and Strengthens Partnerships
The Ministry of Social Development in Khartoum State hosted an expanded coordination meeting chaired by Acting Minister of Social Development, Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, in the presence of the Executive Director of Khartoum Locality, Abdel Moneim Bashir, representatives of the Humanitarian Aid and Voluntary Work Commission, the Locality Development Department, and the Sudanese Red Crescent Society (Khartoum State Branch).
The meeting aimed to evaluate humanitarian programs implemented during the Eid period, review sacrificial meat distribution mechanisms, and assess field performance.
Dr. Zulfiqar Ali reviewed the assistance packages and Eid Al-Adha sacrifice programs that targeted the most vulnerable groups, including elderly care homes, orphanages, foster and host families, persons with disabilities, as well as special support provided to former child soldiers through the National Council for Child Welfare.
Al-Fadil Marjan, representative of the Humanitarian Aid and Voluntary Work Commission, praised the high level of coordination and partnership between localities and humanitarian organizations, revealing that approximately 19 organizations participated in the sacrificial meat distribution program.
He also commended the significant role played by humanitarian organizations and the Zakat Chamber, highlighting the cash assistance provided to families of martyrs through administrative sectors and community service committees.
Meanwhile, the representative of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society in Khartoum State reviewed the Emergency Room’s field efforts, noting that the Society contributed to the distribution of sacrificial meat across localities by providing 800 kilograms for each locality. He further affirmed the Society’s commitment to addressing all shortcomings and distribution challenges that emerged following the Eid holiday.
The meeting concluded by emphasizing the need for the Ministry of Social Development’s Emergency Room to exercise full supervision over all programs and services provided to displaced and hosted populations within neighborhoods, while developing comprehensive plans to address existing gaps.
