Images Tell a Story: An Exceptional Exhibition in Omdurman Documents the Nation’s Resilience and Calls for National Reconciliation

Under the slogan “National Resilience, Recovery, and the Joy of Return,” the Cultural Center in Omdurman today witnessed the opening of the documentary photo exhibition “Images Tell a Story,” organized by the Sudanese Media Club Association. This exhibition is a unique event that sheds light on crucial chapters in Sudan’s contemporary history. The exhibition was inaugurated by Mr. Al-Tayeb Saad Al-Din, Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism for Khartoum State, who praised the significant efforts made by the artists, photographers, and sculptors to bring this work to fruition.

The Minister  Khartoum and the country, stressing the importance of utilizing it as a documenemphasized that the exhibition is the first of its kind intary tool. In his remarks during the opening, the Minister called for the exhibition’s adoption and development into a replicable experience in various vital locations throughout the country, and for its international reach through coordination to display the works in international airports and transport the exhibition to Sudanese embassies abroad.

He envisioned it as a mirror reflecting the extent of the violations committed by the militias and documenting the resilience of the Sudanese people before the world. For his part, Mr. Abdullah Bashir, President of the Sudanese Media Club Association, explained that the association was keen to organize this exhibition to document a pivotal period. In the lives of Sudanese people. Bashir emphasized that the ultimate goal transcends mere visual documentation, aiming to mend the rifts inflicted on the citizens’ psyche by displacement and homelessness. He noted that holding this event in Omdurman is a powerful indication of the capital’s regaining its cultural leadership. The association’s president expressed his gratitude to the Governor of Khartoum and the Minister of Culture for their continued support in ensuring the success of this initiative. Mr. Mohamed Youssef Al-Fatayabi, head of the organizing committee, pointed out that the exhibition presents images in their human and documentary dimensions, transcending the boundaries of time and place. Al-Fatayabi highlighted that the exhibition includes a special section documenting the suffering of citizens during the militia’s presence, serving as living proof of the devastation inflicted upon the country. He added that the exhibition carries profound implications for the unity of the Sudanese conscience, clearly calling for the rejection of tribalism and fanaticism.
