Higher Education Minister: Private Universities Key to Academic Stability
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Ahmed Madawi Musa, affirmed that private, foreign, and non-governmental higher education institutions constitute a fundamental pillar of the country’s higher education system. He praised the significant role these institutions have played in ensuring the continuity of the educational process despite the challenges and exceptional circumstances faced by the sector in recent years.
The Minister explained that the decision to return higher education institutions to their original campuses is aimed at strengthening academic and administrative stability.
He emphasized that the Ministry is working diligently to implement the decision and oversee all necessary arrangements to ensure the successful return of institutions to their designated locations, enabling them to resume academic and administrative activities effectively and emerge stronger in fulfilling their educational and research missions.
The remarks were made during a meeting with senior leadership of Al-Nasr University and Al-Neel University, attended by Ali Al-Sheikh Al-Samani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Dr. Abdel Qader Mohamed Hassan, Director General of Private, Foreign and Non-Governmental Education; and Dr. Osman Monofel Jalab, Acting Director of the Ministerial Executive Office.
The Minister commended the efforts of private, foreign, and non-governmental universities in maintaining educational continuity and providing academic services to students. He reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening partnership and coordination with all higher education institutions to enhance academic performance, uphold quality standards, and improve higher education and scientific research outcomes.
He further noted that the next phase requires greater cooperation and integration between the Ministry and higher education institutions to ensure a stable university environment and contribute to national development goals through education and scientific research.
For their part, the leadership of the two universities reviewed several issues related to academic and administrative operations, expressing their full readiness to cooperate with the Ministry in implementing plans for returning to their original campuses, thereby supporting educational stability and achieving the desired objectives in the coming period.
