Foreign Ministry: US Presidential Advisor’s Briefing to the Security Council “Inaccurate”
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation described the briefing given by the US Presidential Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, to the Security Council as “inaccurate” and not reflective of the positions consistently adopted by the Sudanese government and its various institutions, including the Transitional Sovereignty Council, particularly the briefing’s reference to the Council’s rejection of a paper he submitted.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday said that since the outbreak of the war, the government has dealt positively and responsibly with all initiatives and proposals aimed at ending the suffering of citizens and restoring security and stability. It signed the “Jeddah Declaration” on May 11, 2023, and agreed to a number of humanitarian ceasefires under its terms, while the militias reneged on these commitments.
The Ministry indicated that the government had submitted a public initiative to the Security Council on December 22, 2025, stemming from its commitment to protecting civilians, establishing security, and creating the appropriate conditions for ending the war and its humanitarian consequences. It also engaged constructively with the remarks made by Mr. Mosaad Boulos and provided a detailed response within the framework of ongoing consultations with the US government. This reflects Sudan’s openness to any sincere and transparent efforts that contribute to achieving peace and respond to the aspirations of the Sudanese people and their national interests.
The Ministry reiterated that any serious efforts to end the war must address its root causes, foremost among them halting the external supply of weapons and mercenaries to the rebel militia and ending all forms of political and diplomatic support that enable it to continue its military operations and grave violations against civilians. The statement added that the continuation of this support is a major factor in prolonging the war and enabling the rebel militia to continue committing atrocities, terrorizing civilians, and targeting innocent people.
The Sudanese government renewed its call to the international community and all regional and international actors to deal realistically and objectively with the reality of the situation on the ground, and to realize that what Sudan is facing is a direct foreign-sponsored aggression targeting the Sudanese state and people, in which terrorist militias are used as a tool, which requires a clear and firm international stance that supports national state institutions and enhances the chances of peace and stability.
