Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy Inspects Electricity Sector Operations

Engineer Ali Abdel Rahman, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy, reviewed the progress of work in the electricity sector and the challenges it faces. This came during his inspection visit to the headquarters of the Sudan Electricity Holding Company, where he was received by the company’s Director General, Eng. Abdullah Ahmed Mohammed met with directors of distribution, transmission, and generation companies, as well as leaders in the electricity sector. The meeting reviewed the current status of work and urgent plans to rehabilitate the electricity sector’s infrastructure and restore power to citizens’ homes and service facilities, in line with the directives for the voluntary return of citizens. Plans were also discussed to increase hydroelectric and thermal power generation, improve transmission and distribution networks and control centers, and expand solar and renewable energy projects. He listened to the challenges facing the work, calling for concerted efforts and diverse approaches to achieve progress, especially given the exceptional circumstances the country is experiencing due to the extensive damage to its infrastructure. He commended the electricity sector workers for their efforts in restoring power and for their self-reliant maintenance of a significant number of transformers, bringing them back into service.
