Sudan Officially Launches National Digital Identity Project

The Sudanese Ministry of Digital Transformation and Communications officially launched the comprehensive National Digital Identity project, named “Sudapass,” on Thursday. This strategic step aims to establish a secure and reliable national digital infrastructure. The project is a collaboration between the Sudanese Cybersecurity Authority, the National Electronic Certification Authority, and the General Directorate of Civil Registry at the Ministry of Interior.

The “Sudapass” project represents a significant leap forward, enabling citizens to securely access government and private services, conduct electronic transactions, and obtain digital signatures. This will directly contribute to streamlining procedures, enhancing institutional performance, and fostering trust and growth within the country’s digital economy.

The Ministry affirmed that this national project will support comprehensive digital transformation efforts across multiple vital sectors, including banking, telecommunications, education, health, and future services. It will provide a reliable digital identity based on the highest international standards and best practices in cybersecurity and digital operations, aligning with the state’s plans to build a modern technological system that expands the scope of services and keeps pace with rapid changes.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by a high-level audience including a number of government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, international development partners, as well as representatives of the private sector and national experts, reflecting the great importance of the project in shaping the digital future in Sudan.
