Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare Launches a Package of Social, Health, and Development Programs in the Blue Nile Region

As part of the “Hope Government’s” efforts to strengthen social protection and consolidate community stability in states affected by war and displacement, the Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare, Mr. Moatasem Ahmed Saleh, launched a package of social, health, and development programs in the Blue Nile Region today.
In a post on his Facebook account, the Minister said this launch represents a message affirming that the state continues to fulfill its responsibilities toward citizens despite the exceptional circumstances the country is going through.
At the beginning of the visit, the Minister met with Lieutenant General Ahmed Al-Omda Badi, Governor of the Blue Nile Region, along with members of his government and the regional security committee. He received a briefing on the security and service situation, as well as preparations for the rainy (autumn) season.
Through the Social Security, Solidarity and Poverty Reduction Commission, the Minister and his accompanying delegation launched a direct cash support program benefiting 29,337 individuals from among the poor, widows, orphans, families of martyrs, persons with disabilities, and children lacking parental care. The program cost nearly 1.47 billion Sudanese pounds, increasing the number of beneficiaries from only 9,000 previously. This was accompanied by the distribution of 5,000 sacks of sorghum and 1,250 food baskets to poor families, displaced persons, and the most vulnerable groups.
The Minister also witnessed the launch of the “Nafrat Al-Khair” (Mobilization of Goodness) convoy organized by the Zakat Chamber, targeting displaced families. It included 3,000 sacks of sorghum, food baskets, sacrificial livestock, and support for the war effort, reflecting the national and social role of Zakat institutions during this period.
In the health sector, Mr. Moatasem Ahmed Saleh launched medical clinics in the “Al-Karama” displacement camps in Damazin and Roseires, in partnership between the National Health Insurance Fund and the Ministry of Health. He also launched health insurance cards for poor families funded by the Zakat Chamber, along with a comprehensive medical convoy carrying 10 tons of medicines and medical supplies to support treatment camps in the region.
The visit also included support for the Women and Maternity Hospital, the Military Hospital, and the Central Laboratory with medical equipment and supplies, as well as the inauguration of the expanded and rehabilitated Al-Salam Health Center and the Fazughli Health Center.
In the area of production and livelihoods, funding was launched for 2,000 projects through a partnership between the Social Security Commission, the Zakat Chamber, and the Savings and Social Development Bank. The initiative includes training and guarantees, with financing costs reduced to 15%.
The Minister also visited displacement camps in Damazin and Roseires, where he assessed the humanitarian and service conditions. He visited wounded personnel at the Military Hospital, offering them financial support in appreciation of their national sacrifices.
Moatasem Ahmed Saleh stated:
“What we witnessed today in the Blue Nile Region confirms that the state’s battle is not only military, but also a battle to protect society, enhance stability, and preserve citizens’ dignity. Despite the challenges of war, the ‘Hope Government’ continues to expand social, health, and development protection as one of the most important tools for national resilience and restoring the health of the state and society.”
The Minister was accompanied during the visit by the Governor of the Blue Nile Region, state ministers of Social Welfare and Health, along with leaders of the Zakat Chamber, the Social Security Commission, the National Health Insurance Fund, and a number of officials and partners.
