Khartoum Health Ministry Announces Readiness to Combat Summer Epidemics
The Strategic Planning Council No. (5) of the Khartoum State Ministry of Health, chaired by Director General Dr. Mahmoud Al-Badri, and attended by the Director of the General Administration of Curative Medicine, Dr. Mohamed Al-Sheikh, and the Director of the General Administration of Strategic Planning, Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim, issued important directives to the Ministry’s Training and Research Department. These directives mandate the development of a plan to provide training for all Ministry employees to enhance their efficiency and performance levels. This training should encompass all employee categories, each according to their specialization. Simultaneously, the Council directed the directors of general and branch departments and health facilities affiliated with the Ministry to expedite the provision of necessary information to the Training Department’s human resources database. This database will be used to compile a comprehensive list of personnel working in the sector and gather relevant data about them. This will enable the Ministry to provide health services and the necessary training opportunities to deliver high-quality services. Al-Badri emphasized the importance of computer literacy for all Khartoum Health Ministry employees, given its central role in managing health operations within the state.
The Strategic Planning Council, in its meeting held today with the attendance of directors of general and branch departments and planning directors from the Ministry of Health, approved the performance reports for the first quarter of the base year (2026-2027) for the Preventive Medicine Department, the Training and Research Department, and the General Directorate of Emergency and Epidemic Control. This followed a discussion of the reports and a review of all the challenges that prevented the implementation of a percentage of the projects approved in the plan for these departments.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim informed the directors of the new directive issued by the state regarding the preparation of monthly performance reports, emphasizing the importance of fulfilling the assignment on time each month.
Dr. Mohamed Hassan, Director of the General Directorate of Preventive Medicine, confirmed during his presentation of his department’s report that all activities implemented in the first quarter of the year were within the plan. He noted that the recently implemented campaign led to a reduction in the density of malaria-carrying mosquitoes and stressed that this reduction depends on the continued funding of the campaign, which concludes on the twelfth of this month.
Following his presentation of a report, Dr. Mohamed Al-Tijani, Director of the General Administration for Emergencies and Epidemics, announced that his department, in coordination with the Department of Organizations and the General Administration of Curative Medicine, had taken the necessary measures and equipped six hospitals with all the necessary medications and intravenous fluids to combat any diseases or epidemics that might emerge during the summer season.
Dr. Ahmed Awad Al-Karim, Director of the Training and Research Department, revealed the upcoming launch of a unified training platform for all healthcare workers. In his presentation of his department’s report, he emphasized the importance of regulating training, forming a team of health promotion trainers, and identifying the ministry’s secretariat staff responsible for training.
The council affirmed the necessity of adhering to the weekly reports and implementing the projects outlined in the plan, which aims to improve the level of healthcare services provided.
