Higher Education Affirms Support for Al-Gharb College and Commends Students’ Resilience Amid Displacement

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ahmed Mudawi Musa, praised the resilience of students at Al-Gharb College of Science and Technology, affirming that those who have continued their education despite the challenges of war and displacement represent the elite upon whom the country will rely in the near future.

During his visit to the college’s temporary campus in Omdurman, the minister stated that the ministry’s doors are open to address the issues facing higher education institutions and their affiliates. He emphasized that higher education outputs constitute the human resources that contribute to the country’s development and reconstruction. He added: “We all stand with Al-Gharb College until it regains its strength and moves forward, and we hope it will soon return to Nyala.”

The minister also commended the efforts of Sultan Siddiq Wadaa, Chairman of the College’s Board of Trustees, for his support to the college, its students, and faculty. He further praised the support provided by the Governor of Khartoum and the Military Cooperative Organization, noting that their contributions have helped stabilize students and sustain the educational process.

For his part, Dr. Abdul Qadir Mohammed Hassan, Director General of the General Administration of Private and Non-Governmental Education, highlighted the role played by private higher education institutions in supporting public education by accommodating significant numbers of students.

He noted that Al-Gharb College made considerable efforts to create a suitable learning environment for its students at its campus in Nyala. However, the conditions of war forced students to relocate to safer areas to continue their studies, similar to other institutions affected by the conflict.
