Geological Research Authority: New Partnerships with the Private Sector to Localize Mining Industries

The General Geological Research Authority has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Reda Engineering and Construction Co. Ltd., opening the door for investment partnerships aimed at localizing mining industries and strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors. This step comes as part of the Authority’s efforts to expand the contribution of industrial minerals to the national economy by developing productive projects that utilize local resources and support manufacturing industries and production inputs.

The Director General of the General Geological Research Authority, Geological Consultant Ahmed Haroun Al-Toum, stated during the signing ceremony today (Monday) that the Authority views partnership with the private sector as the “cornerstone” for revitalizing the industrial minerals sector. He noted that the upcoming phase aims to localize both light and heavy industries related to mining and to provide production inputs locally.
He added that the MoU with Reda Company—described as one of the leading national companies—represents a practical starting point for supporting Sudanese companies to actively enter the industrial minerals and mining industries sector.

Al-Toum affirmed that the Authority, along with the Ministry of Minerals, will provide the necessary technical and institutional support to ensure the success of industrial minerals projects. He emphasized that the state is moving toward encouraging national investments and creating productive partnerships that contribute to increasing the mining sector’s share in the national economy.
For his part, the representative of Reda Engineering and Construction Group, Osama Abdelwahab Ahmed Hamza, expressed his appreciation to the General Geological Research Authority for providing the opportunity for partnership.

He confirmed that signing the MoU represents a strategic step for the group’s entry into the industrial minerals field and expansion of its mining activities in Sudan.
He stated that Reda Group is among the national companies that have accumulated experience in the mining sector, particularly in gold, and is now moving to strengthen its presence in industrial minerals through a direct partnership with the General Geological Research Authority.

The MoU stipulates cooperation in preparing technical and economic studies, evaluating investment opportunities in mining blocks, exchanging information and data related to priority projects, and exploring appropriate partnership models for development, operation, and management
