For the first time, Al-Savanna reveals a serious admission by Hemedti

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) defector, Ali Rizqallah, known as “Al-Savanna,” confirmed that RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo “Hemedti” remains the ultimate decision-maker within the forces, while his brother, Abdul Rahim Dagalo, bears primary responsibility for widespread field violations.

In an interview with Al Jazeera Mubasher, Al-Savanna explained that Hemedti currently resides in several countries. He revealed a meeting he had with Hemedti in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, a month before announcing his defection to the Sudanese army. During this meeting, Hemedti confided in him that the war had slipped from his control. Al-Savanna noted that despite the RSF commander’s stated interest in peace, he no longer fully controlled the situation.

In a related context, Al-Savanna declared his complete readiness to appear before any Sudanese or international court regarding the conduct of the war and the violations. He denied committing any abuses and asserted that decisions to carry out extrajudicial killings were made by field commanders.

He also refuted accusations of double-dealing, emphasizing that his loyalties had been clear throughout the past period. He also revealed that approximately five thousand fighters had defected from the Rapid Support Forces.

Al-Savanna concluded his remarks by warning that the continuation of the current conflict directly threatens the division of Sudan. He noted that he had met with Head of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah al-Burhan, and that they had agreed on the necessity of reaching an urgent solution aimed at ending the war and restoring stability to the country.
