Federal Minister of Health Lays Foundation Stone for East Oncology Hospital in Gedaref

Under the patronage of the Federal Minister of Health, the Governor of Gedaref State, a number of ministers, community leaders of Gedaref, and the Amal Al-Sharq Organization, the foundation stone for the East Oncology Hospital was laid.
In his opening remarks, the Minister saluted the people and government of Gedaref for this achievement, stating that May 10, 2026, will remain etched in the memory of the health sector and cancer patients in Sudan, marking the beginning of this vital and important project. He explained that the hospital will be completed to provide services to all people of Sudan, noting that the arrangements have been made in accordance with the standards of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). He also expressed his gratitude to the “Amal Al-Sharq” Organization for its support of the project.
He further called on partners to contribute to the completion of the project, praising the role of the Gedaref community—including businessmen, farmers, and herders—for allocating steady support to the East Oncology Hospital Rehabilitation Fund. He also announced a personal contribution of one million US dollars to the hospital’s establishment fund from the allocations of the Federal Ministry of Finance for health.
For his part, the Governor of Gedaref, Lieutenant General Mohamed Ahmed Hassan, affirmed that laying the foundation stone for the oncology hospital represents a historic step for the state. He commended the efforts of the Federal Minister of Health and the “Amal Al-Sharq” Organization, calling on all parties to participate in establishing this healthcare landmark, which will serve all of Sudan.
