Farini: Combating Drugs is a “Battle of Dignity” to Protect the Sudanese Family

Director General of the Ministry of Social Development in Khartoum State and Acting Minister, Sadiq Hassan Farini, affirmed that the issue of drugs in Sudan is no longer merely a security or health challenge, but rather a social and existential issue that is as significant as the “Battle of Dignity.” He stressed that it is a destructive war targeting the minds of youth and the fabric of Sudanese families.

This statement came during his address at a scientific seminar organized by the Youth Union – Federal Department of Innovation and Cultural Creativity, as part of the initiatives “Sudanese Citizen” and “Healthy Sudanese Youth,” under the title: “Drugs: A Scourge Threatening Health and Social Peace.” The event was sponsored by Dr. Abdel Latif Ahmed, Director of the Department, and attended by the Governor of South Darfur along with various community components, leadership of armed struggle movements, the Justice and Equality Movement, the Secretary of the Sudan Liberation Movement, community police, intelligence representatives in Khartoum State, as well as women’s and student unions and civil society organizations. The seminar was hosted by Al-Khadra School.
The minister also revealed the state’s direction to reactivate the “Khartoum State Drug Control Council,” affirming commitment to supporting institution such as the Social Development Organization and the “Hayat” Addiction Treatment Center.

He called on Sudanese youth to raise awareness and engage in scientific research in this field, emphasizing the importance of youth becoming active advocates for their causes within their communities, rather than merely attending awareness events.
