A New Group of RSF Surrenders to the Army

Six officers from the Mahamid tribe, led by Lieutenant Colonel Ismail Ali Abdel Rahman (Abu Rahaf), commander of Group 22 of the Rapid Support Forces militia, announced their defection from the militia and surrendered, a move reflecting deepening internal divisions.

Informed sources revealed that the group managed to leave Nyala, South Darfur, passing through Al-Daein and the Al-Naam area, before arriving safely in Juba.

The officers were handed over to the relevant intelligence authorities in Juba under tight security arrangements, in preparation for their transfer to Port Sudan in the coming days to complete the official procedures.

Lieutenant Colonel Abu Rahaf is considered an influential field commander, giving this defection significant military and political dimensions, coinciding with an increasing rate of desertions from the Rapid Support Forces in Darfur due to the deteriorating field situation and the loss of trust among the tribal components within the militia.
