Sudan’s Mission in Addis Ababa Intensifies Diplomatic Efforts to Explain Positive Developments in the Country
The Permanent Mission of Sudan in Addis Ababa has launched an intensive diplomatic campaign, meeting with ambassadors of newly elected member states of the African Union Peace and Security Council and new leaders of the African Union.
Sudan’s Ambassador to Addis Ababa and Permanent Representative to the African Union, Al-Zein Ibrahim Hussein, began his meetings on Tuesday with a meeting with Burundi’s representative, Willy Tiamatori, the current Chairperson of the African Union and current Chairperson of the AU.
During the meeting, he briefed the Ambassador on the situation in Sudan following the return of state institutions to Khartoum and presented the national vision regarding the expected role of the African Union in supporting the Sudanese peace initiative.
Ambassador Al-Zein also met with the Ambassador of Benin, Hervé de Djoukpe, a new member of the African Union Peace and Security Council, where they discussed current issues on the African continent. The Sudanese delegate provided a detailed explanation to the Beninese delegate regarding the Sudanese peace initiative, describing it as a genuine national and African solution deserving of support.
The Sudanese delegate also met with the Somali Ambassador to the African Union and the Peace and Security Council, Abdullahi Warfa, where they discussed various issues, areas of cooperation, and shared interests between Sudan and Somalia, in addition to matters related to the African Union.
It is worth noting that Benin and Somalia are new members of the current African Union Peace and Security Council.
These moves are part of the Sudanese diplomatic efforts to explain the positive developments in the country, particularly following the relocation of state institutions to the capital, Khartoum, and to urge member states of the African Union Peace and Security Council to support the Sudanese peace initiative, which has already been welcomed by the African Union and international and regional organizations.
