Sudan Repays Favors: The People’s League Honors Humanitarian Aid Workers in Port Sudan

The People’s League commended the significant humanitarian role played by international, regional, and national voluntary organizations, along with community initiatives, in supporting the Sudanese people during the past period. This came during a press conference held by the Sudanese Popular Initiative to Thank the “Humanitarian Aid Workers,” in coordination with the Humanitarian Aid Commission.

Head of the People’s League, Lieutenant General Omar Nimir, confirmed that this meeting is the ninth in a series of efforts to support official diplomacy. He noted that the honoring comes as an expression of gratitude from a people who faced harsh circumstances but did not abandon the values ​​of loyalty and appreciation towards those who supported them in their crisis.

Nimir added that the initiative was launched under the patronage of Deputy Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Malik Agar, and under the supervision of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mohi El-Din Salem. He pointed out that the honoring includes 34 organizations: 10 international organizations, 17 regional organizations, and seven national organizations, in a step that reflects the unity of efforts to overcome the current stage. He added that this recognition is a badge of honor for the organizations and donors, praising their contributions in the fields of education, health, relief, and shelter, as well as their support for infrastructure projects such as water and electricity, and even investment, which he considered part of supporting the stability of Sudanese society.

He noted that some countries, despite their political stances, have contributed through their people and initiatives to supporting the Sudanese people, expressing his gratitude to several countries, including Kuwait, China, Somalia, and Djibouti.

Nimr revealed the association’s intention to launch a social peace campaign in the coming period, aimed at raising awareness and consolidating the values ​​of national cohesion, emphasizing the continued efforts to express gratitude and appreciation to all supporting entities.

For her part, Dr. Rashida Sayed said, “He who does not thank people does not thank God,” affirming that the Sudanese people will remain loyal to all who have provided them with support.

She added that this recognition is part of a series of events implemented by the association, noting that the ceremony will be held on Saturday at the Al-Amal Hall in Port Sudan to honor a number of organizations in appreciation of their humanitarian efforts. For his part, Naji Al-Shafi’i, Head of the Sudanese Coalition, affirmed that honoring the “Messengers of Humanity” highlights the achievements of the organizations, initiators, and donors. He emphasized that this initiative reflects the extent of public appreciation for their supportive stances during the exceptional circumstances the country is experiencing.

Al-Shafi’i called on those who have not yet joined the support efforts to join the ranks of humanitarian initiatives and contribute to supporting the Sudanese people during this critical period.
