The Ministry of Social Development, in collaboration with the Orphans Care Council, celebrated Arab Orphan Day today under the slogan:
“Sponsoring an Orphan… Building a Human and a Nation,” under the patronage and in the presence of the Director General of the Ministry of Social Development and Acting Minister, Siddig Hassan Farini.
The celebration comes as an affirmation of the importance of caring for orphans and supporting them psychologically, educationally, and socially, as they are an integral part of society and a fundamental pillar in building the nation’s future.
The slogan also reflects a shift toward developing the concept of orphan sponsorship from mere financial support into a comprehensive project aimed at preparing active individuals who contribute to development.
The event was attended by a number of officials and stakeholders concerned with child welfare and social work, in addition to the implementation of programs and activities aimed at raising community awareness about the importance of supporting orphans and encouraging initiatives that improve their living conditions.
In his speech, Siddig Hassan Farini called on the community to give greater attention to orphans, emphasizing that Arab Orphan Day represents a symbolic occasion to mobilize the will of Khartoum State in addressing their issues seriously. He reaffirmed the state’s continued commitment to this group and praised partner organizations for their role in the success of the program and their support for orphans and other targeted groups.
For her part, Najat Mohamed Hassan, Secretary of the Orphans Care Council, stated that caring for orphans is a religious, moral, and national duty that contributes to building a cohesive and resilient society. She also expressed her appreciation to Siddig Hassan Farini for his continuous support of the Council’s programs and activities.
