State Finance Minister Presents Growth Program and Strategic Partnerships to Drive African Integration at Spring Meetings
As part of Sudan’s efforts to effectively return to international forums, Minister of State for Finance, Mohamed Nour Abdel-Daim, participated in the meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors of the African Group 1 (AG1) at the World Bank, held during the 2026 Spring Meetings in Washington.
The meeting focused on the economic performance of the group’s countries during 2025 and the exceptional circumstances facing the Middle East. It also discussed economic indicators for the first quarter of 2026.
In his address to the meeting, the Minister of State reviewed the indicators of economic recovery in the country, noting the government’s return to Khartoum State. He emphasized that deepening strategic international partnerships and launching major regional projects represent Sudan’s and the continent’s gateway to economic integration and shared prosperity.
The Minister of State emphasized the need to strengthen international partnerships, mutual trade benefits, and regional projects among the countries of the continent. He launched a medium-term program to accelerate efforts to create an environment conducive to growth and future preparedness by opening new and diverse investment opportunities. This program focuses on launching a package of infrastructure projects, creating a favorable business environment, mobilizing private sector capital and stimulating its potential, enhancing accountability, and providing sustainable jobs, in addition to capacity building. It also addresses the requirements of the current phase, tackles constraints, and restructures debt at a lower cost.
The Minister of State also stressed the importance of strengthening governance and transparency to improve the efficiency of tax collection and other processes. He called on the World Bank and international financial institutions to play their role in supporting countries affected by conflicts, particularly Sudan.
