PM briefed on the work of the International Claims Committee and legal avenues for prosecuting the “militia”

Prime Minister Kamil Idris received a briefing on the work of the International Claims Committee, which is tasked with prosecuting the rebel militia and its associates and supporters, and on the proposals submitted regarding new avenues for litigation before the International Court of Justice and other competent international courts.

This came during his meeting yesterday in Khartoum with Minister of Justice Abdullah Mohammed Dirif, who explained in a press statement that he presented the Prime Minister with the draft prepared by the committee concerned with reviewing land-related legislation and compiling related disputes, with the aim of facilitating and attracting investment.

The Minister of Justice indicated that the meeting also addressed the results of his visit to Gezira and Gedarif states, undertaken to strengthen the rule of law, and the inauguration of the new buildings for the Legal Administration in Gedarif State.

The minister also briefed the prime minister on the efforts of the Committee for Preventing Illegal Collection, the results of its field visits to the eastern and northern states, the violations the committee observed in those states, and the measures taken to curb these practices. Darf confirmed that the Committee for Preventing Illegal Collection would continue its field visits in the coming days.
