PM briefed on the results of the first Youth Conference
His Excellency the Prime Minister, Professor Kamil Idris, was briefed on the arrangements made by the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the celebration of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.
This came during his meeting yesterday afternoon in Khartoum with the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ahmed Adam Ahmed, who explained in a press statement that the Ministry’s celebration of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace includes a range of events, activities, and sports programs with the participation of various sectors including cycling, athletics, shooting, fencing, football, canoeing, and most other sports.
The celebration will also include the participation of a number of constitutional officials, sports federations, youth organizations, the public, and people of short stature.
Minister of Youth and Sports indicated that the celebration of the International Day will include honoring some athletes who persevered during the war, in addition to a sports demonstration of various sporting activities and an introduction to the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.
Adam stated that he briefed His Excellency the Prime Minister on the status of stadiums and sports fields in Khartoum. He explained that the committee responsible for preparing stadiums and fields in Khartoum, which stems from the Higher Committee for Creating a Suitable Environment for the Return of Citizens to Khartoum State, has successfully prepared approximately six stadiums, which are currently hosting activities. These include Al-Merreikh, Al-Hilal, Kober, Omdurman, Al-Ailafoun, and Wad Nubawi. He also mentioned the ongoing efforts to complete the preparation of Khartoum Stadium so that sporting activities can resume there next month.
He added that the meeting also addressed the major youth initiative implemented to improve the environment at the sports city, which will soon be inaugurated.
He further stated that the meeting discussed the outcomes of the first Youth Conference held in River Nile State, which included youth projects, many of which have been implemented through partnerships or adoption by relevant authorities.
The Minister of Youth and Sports revealed the arrangements being made by the Ministry for the second Youth Forum, as well as the Athletes’ Forum.
