Partnership between NSWF and FMoH to Strengthen Malaria Efforts and Anticipated Participation in World Malaria Day

The Secretary of the National Students Welfare Fund (NSWF) in Red Sea State, Mohamed Hassan Suleiman, met at his office in the State Secretariat with a delegation from the Malaria Control Partnership Coordination Committee of the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH), headed by Al-Rashid Mohamed Ali, the Partnership Coordinator. The meeting was also attended by Ms. Huda Nasr Al-Din, Director of Student Services.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the Fund and the Malaria Control Partnership Committee in combating the disease and reducing its spread. Emphasis was placed on the pivotal role the Fund can play in raising health awareness among students and the community, particularly within student dormitories.
The two sides discussed arrangements for the NSWF’s participation in World Malaria Day events, which falls on April 30th. This participation will involve students in awareness, educational, and treatment activities, contributing to the establishment of healthy behaviors and promoting preventative measures. Students will also be engaged as ambassadors for health education within their student communities.
In a related context, a reciprocal exchange of visits between the NSWF and the FMoH has been observed, reflecting the existing level of coordination between the two institutions and the move towards a more effective partnership in combating malaria and improving the health environment within the student body.
The Fund’s Secretary affirmed his administration’s commitment to full cooperation and active participation in ensuring the success of World Malaria Day events at the state level. He noted that the Fund’s role extends beyond providing housing and sustenance to include creating a comprehensive health environment that supports academic achievement and protects students from diseases, particularly malaria. He emphasized the importance of improving the environment within student dormitories and supporting free medical treatment for students.
Partnership Coordinator, Al-Rashid Mohammed Ali commended the Fund’s management for their responsiveness, affirming the Coordination Committee’s readiness to provide the necessary support, particularly in the areas of malaria treatment and training. He emphasized the importance of involving male and female students, especially medical school graduates, in specialized training programs for malaria diagnosis and treatment. This, he noted, would contribute to developing a cadre of young professionals capable of effectively combating the disease.
This initiative is part of national efforts to enhance integration among institutions and unify initiatives to fight malaria, thereby supporting a safe and healthy university environment and contributing to the development of a healthy generation capable of participating in the nation’s progress.
