Launch of the Comprehensive Statistical Survey of Education in Sudan with UNICEF Support

Ministry of National Education announced the launch of the educational statistical survey project in several Sudanese states.

Following a meeting yesterday at his office in Omdurman with the General Directorate of Educational Planning at the Ministry, in the presence of the Director of the Directorate, Dr. Umm Salama Al-Amin, the Minister of National Education, Dr. Al-Tohami Al-Zein Hajar, stated that the survey will initially cover the states of Khartoum, Gezira, and Sennar, with the participation of the statistical offices in the states. Implementation will gradually extend to the remaining states until May 7, 2023. This initiative is part of efforts to strengthen data-driven scientific planning.

The Minister explained that the survey aims to gather accurate and comprehensive information about the state of education in the country, including the number and types of schools and educational institutions, the number of students and teachers, and the availability of basic services such as water, electricity, and health services within schools. He clarified that it also includes an assessment of the learning environment and educational resources, including the availability of textbooks, with the goal of building a comprehensive database to support the development of educational policies and improve the quality of education.

The Minister added that this program is being implemented with the support of UNICEF, which continues its contributions to supporting the education sector in Sudan through a number of initiatives and quality programs.

The Minister emphasized that the results of this survey will serve as a fundamental reference for decision-making and the development of strategic plans, contributing to the advancement of the educational process throughout the country.
