Justice Minister Meets with Heads of Judiciary and Public Prosecution in Gedarif State, Emphasizes Strengthening Coordination between Judicial Bodies
As part of his current visit to Gedarif State, Minister of Justice, Dr. Abdullah Dirif, met with both the Head of the Judiciary and the Head of the Public Prosecution in Gedarif State.
A press release issued by the Ministry of Justice’s media office stated that the Minister met today (Friday) with judge Muawiya Al-Hajj Abdul-Majid and expressed his pleasure at visiting the Public Prosecution in Gedarif State. He noted that the Public Prosecution played a significant role, both before and after the war, in enforcing the law and maintaining security, which contributed to the stabilization of the security situation.
The Minister added that the role of the Public Prosecution is no less important than that of the fighters on the ground, and that there is complete and close coordination between the Ministry of Justice and the Attorney General, particularly regarding joint cases related to the National Committee for Investigating Violations of National Law and International Humanitarian Law, and the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law. He added that there are many joint cases in which the roles of the Ministry of Justice and the Attorney General are complementary.
During the meeting, the Head of the Public Prosecution briefed the Minister on the work of the Public Prosecution in the state, stating that there is coordination with the Legal Department on many cases. He indicated that matters are proceeding smoothly despite the effects of the war, adding, “We and the Legal Department participate in all activities in the state.” He said that the Minister of Justice’s visit to the state has significant implications and demonstrates the complementary roles between the Ministry of Justice and the Public Prosecution.
In a related development, the Minister of Justice met with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and Head of the Judiciary in Gedarif State, Judge Bereir Omar Bereir, and explained the reasons for his visit to the state. He stated that the visit aimed to strengthen coordination, cooperation, and the exchange of knowledge and expertise between the Ministry of Justice and the judiciary. He noted that the judiciary is best positioned to offer insights into judicial reform, drawing on practical experience that reveals many gaps in certain laws. He added that the judiciary is also best equipped to evaluate laws through their application and judicial precedents, which establish legal principles that enrich the legal landscape in both practice and research.
For his part, the Head of the Judiciary in the state commended the Minister of Justice’s commitment to the values of justice and the rule of law, and praised the advisors’ cooperation in providing legal assistance.
